Create Your Best Life

Breaking Free in 2015

Feeling stuck is no fun. It’s exhausting, actually.

Unrewarding relationships, unfulfilling jobs and even homes or locations you dislike can drain your energy faster than a fire hose can fill up a baby pool.

If you could change just one thing about your life in the new year what would it be? What if “it” could be replaced with something else by this time next year? Stop and consider that delicious possibility for a moment.

Maybe it’s a small thing, like the hideous rug in the living room or spending lunch hour at your desk working between bites of sandwich. Maybe it’s major like an unhappy marriage, unfulfilling career or geographical location.

As soon as you relax into the warm and wonderful possibilities of removing the unpleasant situation, five reasons why it can’t happen probably flooded your consciousness, washing away your optimism and once again leaving you feeling stuck and hopeless.

Am I right?

Did you think, even for an instant, “I can’t because…”?

It’s tough being human. I know. #thestruggleisreal We get stuck because we can’t see past the obstacles holding us firmly in place and fear of the unknown can be downright paralyzing. Sometimes though the obstacles are excuses in disguise and fear is the little plastic chair holding us back.

Obstacles can be real, of course, but most of them can also be overcome. Obstacles are hurdles not stop signs.

Fear is no small hurdle and maybe it’s the biggest block of all. The cool thing about fear though is that you can master it, rather than let it control you. Right?

Right?

If you don’t have enough money, then start saving. If you don’t have the training or education, sign up for a class. If you don’t have enough time, shift your priorities. If you want to move, then spend the day on Zillow researching the possibilities. If you want to lose weight or get healthier sign up for nutrition class or a fun activity you will stick with. Take one practical baby step in the direction of your dreams. Those first tentative steps are usually the hardest and then the momentum will carry you forward.

Not making a decision is still making a decision, the decision to remain stuck.

Let’s do it together, let’s make 2015 the year of No More Settling!!

You can do this!

We are the masters of our own creations. What do you chose to create in 2015?

I agree wholeheartedly with exactly what she has said here. So many times I hear folks complaining about a situation that they have taken NO steps to rectify. However, some of us (me) have worked VERY hard to make something happen for myself, but never became successful in this endeavor. So many times people may not have their special situation for no fault of their own. Surely we don’t want folks to feel guilty about their dreams not occurring.

I so needed to read this. I’ve been stuck for some time now. In therapy to help me get past whatever it is to be able to move on, but it’s a struggle. So thanks 🙂

The idea of struggle, the feeling of struggle, suggests something vs. something. Either within, pitting one part of self against another, or with another person or object or situation outside oneself. Relaxing the effort against a situation may allow for a more panoramic view of it. Pam’s article suggests that we may have more options than we think we do. All the best…or try to stop smiling…struggle with that.
