When you’re overwhelmed, you may be absorbing too much energy from others and the world around you. Grounding helps you release that excess and reconnect with your own energy.
Try this:
- Stand barefoot outside and imagine roots growing from your feet into the earth, anchoring you.
- Hold a grounding object (like black tourmaline, hematite, or a smooth river rock).
- Take 5 slow, deep breaths — with each exhale, imagine releasing stress into the ground beneath you.
Bonus: Hug a tree! Trees are natural energy anchors.
Create a Strong Energetic Boundary (You’re Allowed to Say No)
Empaths often feel responsible for fixing or soothing others — but you can’t pour from an empty cup. Your aura (energy field) is like your personal boundary, and you can strengthen it with intention.

- Take a salt bath (Epsom or sea salt is perfect) to draw out what you’ve absorbed.
- If you’re short on time, close your eyes and visualize standing under a waterfall of pure light, rinsing your aura clean.
Guard Your Input (What You Take in = What You Feel)
What you feed your mind and heart matters. Empaths are especially affected by what they see, hear, and engage with.
Check yourself:
- Are you doom-scrolling or consuming upsetting news out of habit?
- Are there people who leave you feeling tense, drained, or anxious?

- Move your body — gentle movement (yoga, walking, stretching) helps shake off stuck energy.
- Treat yourself like a dear friend — speak kindly to yourself, honor your needs, and celebrate small joys.
