Pam's Monthly Insights
May 2006
Hello friends,
Spring has finally sprung here in Southern California and I couldn't be more thrilled. I have faced many extremes of weather during filming last month from below zero, to stifling heat, to rain so I am relieved when I arrive home for a week of R&R and mild weatherJ I can't help but find it kind of humorous that Laurie and I are always facing some sort of extreme weather to the point that it's becoming part of the backdrop for the show...."psychics who will brave anything to solve a case"...LOL Anything but geese that is. When the director tried to get me to sit on a park bench surrounded by geese I said it was time to renegotiate my contract. Luckily the cameraman felt the same way or you might have found me on a bloopers show being chased down the hill by a gaggle of geese.
This month I am going to talk about the Tarot and give you another flag to remote view. I'll address the age old question, "why am I here?" This is the most asked question I receive during personal consultations so we will explore the art of finding your path. I'll also tell you more about Sensing Murder behind the scenes.

The Truth about Tarot
Last month I promised an article about the Tarot. Many people have asked me over the years if readers who use cards are frauds. As with anything, some are and some are not. Just because a reader pulls out a deck of cards or you hear shuffling in the background over the telephone doesn't mean you should run for the nearest exit. If the reader is making a big production out of the cards and is wearing robes and there is a big red palm in the window, then I would be concerned. J
Personally, I love the symbolism of the Tarot and use them for personal guidance but don't use them in my readings with others. What's important to remember is that every intuitive has a certain ritual they must go through to "turn it on" so to speak. For many, it's the cards. The act of shuffling the cards and asking a question in their head is really about warming up and opening the intuitive channel. It's a signal to the subconscious that they are gearing up for a chat. A real reader will start by looking at the cards spread out before them and begin to explain what they mean. Soon they will be talking about things that couldn't possibly be seen in the cards before them. Wa la, their intuition is now in control. Most people make the mistake of thinking that psychics are "on" all the time and can just look at you and start reading you. This is certainly not my experience. It takes focus and energy to "tune in". If your reader doesn't seem to get past analyzing the cards after a few minutes then they may not be genuine.
The reason I don't use the cards in my readings is because I tend to stay in my left brain trying to figure out what they mean in certain combinations and positions. If I don't have cards to lean on, then I am forced to use my intuition. I'm sure clients have no idea how much faith it takes to listen to that still, small voice and put out there what you feel. We worry about being wrong. We worry about not hearing anything. We worry about your reactions and on and on. A receptive and positive client helps us move forward with confidence.
Tarot for your own use and spiritual development is something I recommend for anyone. Learning the symbolism can be a first step for you in opening up a line of communication with your own subconscious. Since I find reading for myself next to impossible, I am able to receive guidance through the cards. It's fun and fascinating.

Remote Viewing Exercise
Okay back by popular demand. I've chosen another flag for you to try your hand at remote viewing. It is NOT the United States flag so let go of that. Don't try to guess or figure it out just let images come to your mind. Focus first on the colors that pop into your mind...then the shapes. Contact me your results. Winner gets a mini reading.

What's Your Destiny?
In my work as an intuitive I talk to many people about their hopes, wishes and often confusion about their paths. I ended up in a place I never expected and didn't want to go and yet when I got there, I knew it was right. Most people have a difficult time seeing their own destiny clearly. I believe that we get clues during our childhood about our place in this world. Children are drawn to certain activities and interests all on their own, if they are lucky enough to have parents who allow them to. I believe this is because they are being guided by pure intuition. Kids just don't have enough world knowledge to be able to sort it all out logically and yet they have strong interests and desires. If you have children please honor the things that pull and attract them. Think back on the things you naturally loved or were drawn to as a young person.
I can use my own experience as an example. As a child, I did two things that are pretty interesting in retrospect. I remember sitting in class one day in about 5th grade and my teacher writing a quote on the chalk board meant to inspire us. It was something about making a difference in the world. I remember clearly at that moment deciding that my life was going to be remembered in some significant way. I just "knew" that I was going to make a difference some day. Not a clue how. I didn't give it much thought after that of course, I went about being a child. What is fascinating about that desire is how it ran counter to my personality. I was a painfully shy child and didn't complete my BA degree in collage because I refused to take the public speaking course I needed to graduate. The second thing I did was have a strong attachment to the creative process. It wasn't one particular art form, it was the process that I loved and at a fairly young age, I knew the difference. I loved the feeling of being "in the zone." So I knew I wanted to make a mark on the world (even though it was very uncomfortable) and loved being in the zone (better than Disneyland :).
As revealing as your natural loves and talents so is your greatest fear or strongest resistance, maybe even more so. I can't tell you how many people I have read for that had something important to give and just couldn't see it for themselves. As soon as I mentioned it I either heard "oh, well duh, why didn't I see that?" "or "are you kidding? I don't want to do that I want to do this." (the second was my response when someone told me that I was going to become a well known psychic detective) Most had a zillion excuses for not expressing a certain talent...THE very talent they are meant to be expressing and will bring the greatest fulfillment.
So take stock of your natural abilities, the things that attract you and make you happy but most importantly, carefully examine that which you resist.

Media
Sensing Murder is now in production. Discovery Channel has decided not to sneak preview it so you will have to wait until July. I am really thrilled about the results Lauire Campbell and I got during a recent filming in Garden Grove, California. We know nothing about a case before we are brought in and don't even know where we are headed until we get our airline tickets. Stressful, but necessary to keep things clean so skeptics can't say we are researching cases prior to filming. Production even handles our clothes! What you see on camera will actually reflect our first impressions of the crime and our first time meeting the detectives. I took on this show to demonstrate how the intuitive process works in reality instead of how it works in retrospect. For those who wish to submit a case for the show, keep in mind that it must be a homicide that I haven't worked on.
I'm also working on a book project. Currently, I'm in talks with my hero (tell you who next month) to co-write with me. I am so excited about this possibility, I can't even tell you.

Pam's Book Review
Tarot made Easy by Nancy Garen is my favorite beginner Tarot book.
If you have ever been intrigued by the Tarot but were confounded by the complexities of multi-card spreads and vague interpretations given in most books, this is the guide for you. With Tarot Made Easy you can easily interpret the meaning of any card and apply it to the particular circumstances of your life. This book provides a great practical way to become acquainted with the cards and apply their meanings to your questions.
